Welcome to the Scottish Energy Performance Certificate Register.
On this site you can:
Please select from the options on the menu bar above.
Search for and retrieve an EPC by report reference number (RRN)
This facility enables you to retrieve an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and accompanying Recommendations Report or to check the current validity of your EPC.
To retrieve an Energy Performance Certificate you require the 20 digit Report Reference Number (RRN). This can be found in the top right corner of the EPC and is also printed at the top of each page of the Recommendations Report. The RRN is five groups of four digits separated by dashes, e.g. 1111-2222-3333-4444-5555.
Follow the instructions on the page and then click on the ‘retrieve PDF’ button. If you have entered a valid Report Reference Number, your EPC will be displayed. If the number entered does not relate to a current valid EPC, you will receive a message that either the number is not valid or that the number relates to an EPC that is no longer current. In either case, please contact the party who provided you with the EPC or the report reference number.
Opt in or out of making your EPC data available for marketing purposes
This facility allows you to control the use of your EPC data by authorised third parties.
As explained in the ‘about this document’ section of your Recommendations Report, EPCs are available to view online by any party with access to the Report Reference Number (RRN) and to organisations(‘authorised recipients’) delivering energy efficiency and carbon reduction initiatives on behalf of the Scottish and UK Governments.
If you are the current owner or occupier of this building and do not wish this data to be used by these organisations to contact you in relation to such initiatives, you can mark your data accordingly. Where an EPC is identified as opted out, all organisations with access to the data must not, by law, use this data to contact building owners or occupiers.
You will require information from your EPC to use this facility.
Please enter your 20 digit report reference number (RRN) from the EPC you wish to opt out, together with the address, exactly as printed on the EPC. The RRN is five groups of four digits separated by dashes, e.g. 1111-2222-3333-4444-5555.
Follow the instructions on the page and click the ‘Save’ button. You will receive a message advising you if the change in status is successful.
If you change your mind at a later date you can chose to opt-in your EPC using the same Opt-Out menu above.
Search for an EPC assessor
To help building owners find an EPC assessor, a central register of all Scottish EPC assessors is now available.
To find an assessor close to you, please enter your postcode and a maximum distance (in miles) from your location. This will return a list of assessors and a map showing their location and the type of EPC assessments they can undertake. Selecting an assessor will provide their full contact information.
About the Scottish Energy Performance Certificate Register
From January 2013, all Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) produced in Scotland must be stored on a central register. This register is operated by the Energy Saving Trust on behalf of the Scottish Government.
Access to the Scottish EPC Register is determined by The Energy Performance of Buildings (Scotland) Regulations 2008. General access to data held on the register is restricted to ‘authorised recipients’ including Approved Organisations and Local Authorities. Members of the public may search for individual EPCs by report reference number (RRN). For more information on the Scottish EPC Register, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
For more information on the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive and EPCs please visit the Scottish Building Standards website www.scotland.gov.uk/epc.
